On August 7, 2008, SCGS President Nancy Giles (L), and Vice-President Tom Beatty (R), presented an American Flag to Earlene Arnett, Director of the Scott County Public Library.

At the request of U.S. Congressman Ben Chandler (D-KY6), the flag was flown over the United States Capitol on June 4, 2008, the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the Scott County Genealogical Society.
